NOGA takes 4th at Beef 0' Brady's

It was the most competitive field the Wildcats have yet to see in this young season of 2012-13. With 15 teams top teams from North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia North Gaston finished just 17 points behind 2nd place East Side High, SC and just 14 points behind 3rd place #1 Ranked NC tournament team, JM Robinson. The Cats were lead by HWT Champion James Passmore, 182lb Runner up Collin Johnson, 220lb 3rd place Jesus Martell, 160lb 3rd place Brandon Anderson, 152lb 4th place Jordan Galyan, and 145 4th place Jon Stinnard.

The Cats are back in action on Saturday Dec. 15th at the Tigerland Invt. at Fred T Foard.

Wildcats split tri-match at home

The Cats were defeated by Rock Hill 44-31 in the first dual of the night, and later knocked off the Ashbrook Greenwave by a score of 39-24.

Cats take 4th at Jim Hayes with partial lineup

With several starters out sick the Wildcats placed 6 of 8 wrestlers to finish 4th behind AL Brown, Independence, and Hough at the longest continuous running tournament in the state the Jim Hayes Invitational. Sr's Collin Johnson, and Brandon Anderson won gold medals and James Passmore brought home a silver. Bronze medalist were Sr. Jordan Galyan, Sophomore Ian Machamer, and Freshman Lathan Bumgarner.

 


Final match pin propels Cats over Blue Devils

The Wildcats needed a pin in the final match from Sophomore 170lb Sophomore Paul Walters Friday night in order to win the dual. Down five points going into the last match after a sick and depleted Wildcat lineup had fought tooth and nail to keep Mooresville from running away with the match Walters delivered. Just about 30 seconds into the 2nd period Walters hit his opponent with a headlock that would eventually lead to the match winning pin. Other Winners for NG in the dual were Freshman 195 Lathan Bumgarner, Sr. 220 Jesus Martell, Jr. 285 James Passmore, Jr. 145 Jon Stinnard, Sr. 152 Jordan Galyan. The Wildcats then fell to Christiansburg, VA 58-18

 


Wildcats place 9 of 10, Win Team title at North Meck.

The Wildcats pinned early and often in the Viking Invitational Saturday at North Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte. Leading the tournament from start to finish and placing 9 of 10 wrestlers in their respective weight classes. Gold medal winners were: Nathan Rice, Jon Stinnard, Jordan Galyan, and Collin Johnson. Silver Medalist, Jamie Barstrom. Bronze winners, Ian Machamer, Brandon Anderson, Paul Walters, and Andra' McCoy. The Cats travel to Mooresville this Friday, the 30th to take on the Blue Devils of Mooresville, and Christianburg, VA. Then turnaround and compete in the oldest running tournament in the State of North Carolina. The Jim Hayes Invitational.
